Kiwanis Meeting Recaps

January 22, 2026 / Common Man – 15 members present.. Thank you to Steve for filling in for Scott. Both George and Frank gave updates on financials and secretarial information. Keep sending your monthly volunteer hours to Frank on the 1st of each month. There were some parking updates, and members are encouraged to find the sign up genius in the Winter Kommunicator link. Key clubs are working on individual projects. Fueled by Kids, ( Bedford) continues to do a fabulous job for the community. Steph C gave a briefing on social media posts. Deb L talked about the Comedy show, and how she would love to see more Kiwanians at the event. Guest speaker in March, will be Bill Weidacher (still looking for a Feb speaker). Easter Basket committee should be forming shortly, so stay tuned for your help. Deb M. handed out a flyer regarding the Breakthrough Trivia competition happening on March 10, 2026.

January 7, 2026 / Common Man – 17 members present. Several members updated the group on Parking (we really need people to step up and use sign up genius to assist). Memorial Key club will receive pizza next week for all their help with 10K and CWAC. Tickets for Comedy show in February will go on sale soon; it would be nice to see more Kiwanis members attend. Michelle O’ Malley gave us an update on the Webster House progress, and breaking ground in April 2026. Amy updated us on Safe Sports Network, with trainers assigned to each school for consistency. We have a new storage facility in Hooksett to store Kiwanis Manchester supplies, etc. thanks to longtime Kiwanis Member Richard Letendre. Eric Lesniak was the guest speaker as the economic liaison for the City of Manchester. He gave an in- depth talk about business retention, growth, commercial properties as well as projects planned for the city. Afterwards, the queen of diamonds was drawn (no winner) and happy jar was filled with happy thoughts. Happy New Year to everyone.

December 3, 2025 / Common Man – 23 members present. Announcements were made regarding excellent, upcoming events happening soon. You can view all in the Kommunicator. Parking, Key Club updates, and financials were presented. The highlight of the meeting was guest speaker Dean Kamen. The amount of energy that man possesses with all his non-profits is absolutely astounding. He spoke about the See Science Center, FIRST, FIRST GLOBAL, and ARMI. His vision for Manchester is to make the city a hub of medical industry. A big thanks goes to Dean for making time to speak with us. Deb L. had the winning number for QOD, but didn’t pick the right card. A double happy jug will happen at the Yankee swap Dec. 17 meeting.

November 19, 2025 / Revo Casino – 18 members attended a buffet dinner at Revo Casino last night. Upcoming parking opportunities are coming up fast and furious; if you can help with parking, please text Steve 603-818-0171. We are working on a sign up page for parking. The 2nd member meeting in December (12/17/2025) will be at the Common Man and is a Yankee Swap — $20.00 gifts please. The 12/3/2025 meeting will feature Dean Kamen as the guest speaker; it is a real treat to have him attend our meeting, as we all know how busy his schedule is. Gregg Flegal would appreciate your ideas for guest speakers. The 2nd WWAC is coming up 12/1/1015 – contact Rob ([email protected]) if interested in helping. CWAC is 12/8/2025 at MPAL- contact Cindy H ([email protected]) if you would be interested in helping. Upcoming event at Revo will be Jan. 7th with a meeting, social, and a Trivia Night.There are some changes regarding Kiwanis Kasseroles you should read about in the new Kommunicator. After the meeting a 10 K wrap up was held.

November 5, 2025 / Common Man – There were 22 members present, including new member Stephanie Cook. There are lots of opportunities to be involved, such as helping with Walk with a Child, Celebrate with a Child, Kiwanis Kasseroles and Parking for SNHU events. Stephanie gave a brief speech regarding her history, and becoming a Kiwanian. Webster House has almost reached its monetary goal, with hopes to break ground in the spring. Our next member meeting, Nov. 19, is going to be held at the REVO Casino. If you have any news for the Kommunicator please send to Nicole Wallace. Final numbers aren’t in yet for the 10K, however George said profit will be approximately $20,000.

October 15, 2025 / Common Man – There were 19 members at the meeting that began with lots of jabs and laughter. 10K updates were made starting with set up Thursday into Friday this week. On Oct 22nd the Hooksett Kiwanis is celebrating 25 yrs. There was a Happy Jug and Queen of Diamonds, with no winner at this meeting. November 10 and Dec. 1st are dates for Walk with a Child (volunteer email coming), and Dec. 8 is Celebrate with a Child at MPAL. Dec. 17th is the Yankee Swap and Holiday celebration at Common Man which is the last member meeting of the year. The 1st meeting of December may be at the Casino after Deb L and Scott meet with the new director; stay tuned. The annual comedy show is set for Feb 20, 2026 at the Backyard Brewery 18 yrs+ and $25.00 / tix. Parking help is needed for Nov. 8th, 22nd, 23rd and 28th; please contact Steve N if you can help out.

October 1, 2025 / Common Man – There were 23 members and guests present. Oct 11th Scott and Sandee will be going to Breakthrough to talk and get involved with a project they are working on. Parking for Alabama concert on Oct 11. Some big events are coming up at SNHU arena. Rob updated us on WWAC that is tentatively planned for Nov.10 and Dec. 1st.. Rob will reach out when ready for signups. Hooksett Kiwanis is celebrating 25 yrs. on Oct. 22nd at the Derryfield country club.10K ticket sales could be better with 2 weeks until the event. PLEASE buy your tickets ASAP. Matt Barrett, new lieutenant governor, recognized outgoing directors and officers. New officers were inducted. Welcome to Nicole and Misty to the board of directors. Michelle Lambert got an outstanding service award from Laura Nesmith (outgoing lieutenant gov.). A large group of Kiwanians were recognized for their years in the club. Happy jug and queen of diamonds were part of the meeting. Stay tuned for future fun events.

September 17, 2025 / Majestic Theatre – There was a big turnout for the annual grant presentation to 22 non profit organizations. A photo op with our president, Scott, was taken with each group. What an amazing night to hear about all the good projects happening within our Manchester community and beyond. The grant committee was thanked for the hard work selecting worthy groups, led by Paul Weathers.Over $54,000 was dispersed, and each organization’s representative briefly spoke about their mission, and what the money would be delegated toward. Dinner was provided by the club from the Puritan: delicious chicken tenders, mashed potatoes, and Greek salad.

September 3, 2025 / Common Man – 16 members were in attendance. Review of parking for Creed – brought in $1050.00. Comicon is Sept. 20-21. More events coming up with opportunities to help. George sent out request for dues via emails. Scott would like to have Kiwanis members more visible, by wearing shirts or other swag. Discussion about having more member opportunities to meet at a fun event like a get together on the Sunapee Dinner cruise. Book nooks are getting a lot of use, especially the new install at Livingston Park. Scott is inquiring about a way to have the 10K number balls shoot out instead of handling the numbers. Members were given a planning form to fill out regarding increasing membership, what is working, new ideas etc. Look for info. regarding 10k tix purchasing.

August 6, 2025 / Common Man – 19 members were in attendance. We enjoyed a presentation by the Queen City Bike Collective where we found out all of the wonderful initiatives they have for Manchester youth. The organization was one of the grant recipients, and does a lot! There will be a book nook – book collection drive to add to our supply of youth books thru Sept. 3. If you have any books, or know someone who will donate, Corri has sent out a flyer with more information. Books can be dropped off at The Majestic Theatre, NBT Bank in Manchester, or brought to a meeting. If you need us to pick up your books reach out to Corri or Rob. We are excited to add a 5th book nook location – Livingston Park! Laura has sent out a newsletter. The governor will be at a Fisher Cat game this Sunday Aug. 10. If you haven’t already done so please go to Kiwanis Engage, which has taken the place of Kiwanis Konnect. The 10 K committee is looking for gift certificates, raffle items and most importantly volunteers to assist with cleanup after the event. Parking for Phish was a big success; Daughtry and Creed are coming the end of the month to SNHU arena. Contact Nicole if you would like to attend her fun game day Aug. 23rd.

June 18, 2025 / Common Man – 15 members were in attendance. Over $54,000 was awarded in grant money to non profit organizations; thanks to the committee headed by Paul Weathers. Rob Dionne ’s sister passed away, and several members were able to attend the wake. Pulaski Park book nook has been reinstalled after recent vandalism.  The 10K committee is meeting to get the ball rolling – contact Michelle Lambert or Nicole Wallace if you would like to help. If you haven’t voted for the slate of new officers, and directors, please do so immediately. Parking this weekend will be big, due to the popularity of PHISH. Thank you to everyone helping out with this. Breakout, at Breakthrough, will be happening at 1PM on Monday, June 23rd. If you can make it there, it would be appreciated. Laura N sent out the newsletter with Convention information. Also, August 10th the governor will be attending the Fisher Cat game. A new credit card machine has been obtained, and will help facilitate events. Nicole said she hosts a game night in August. Alysha Ashby was our “get to know a Kiwanian” and gave a very entertaining, exuberant talk about her life and Manchester roots.

June 4, 2025 / Webster House – A large member presence could be felt as we met at the Webster House, Wednesday afternoon at 5 PM. Michelle O’Malley graciously greeted us at the door. Food was ordered from the Puritan Backroom restaurant, for dining with Webster House residents and staff. Brief remarks were made by Scott and Michelle. After dinner, members gathered outside for a photo op check presentation to the Webster House. Kiwanis has had a long partnership with WH, and we are thrilled to donate $45,000.00 to the building addition campaign.

May 21, 2025 / Common Man – 17 members were present. Unfortunately, many circumstances arise that prohibit attending a meeting. However, if you haven’t been to one in a while, please try to make attending a priority. There are so many positive initiatives we are working on and we would appreciate your input and participation. Memorial HS is receiving a $1000.00 check for their Spring Festival to benefit those students who would not be able to participate due to monetary circumstances. We are looking into several organizations who we may assist with student food insecurity during the summer months.The board approved to spend a significant amount of money to help with this plan – stay tuned. Key clubs have been busy with end of the year activities; some changes are in the works. Emile and Sue T. have been dealing with challenging health issues; they would appreciate cards but no gifts or flowers. Nancy H. has graciously accepted to take over hospitality/correspondence by sending greetings to our members who are celebrating milestone events, birthdays, get well wishes,etc. You can let her know by emailing [email protected] . Parking cars at NBT bank has brought in $24,000 to the club since Oct. 2024. Corri W. and Paul W. were our “Get to know your Kiwanian” speakers. Corri spoke about her life, career choices, family and how she became involved with Kiwanis and Circle K in college. Paul also spoke about his career and life choices,early years growing up in Michigan, and the several banks he worked for. Thank you both for sharing your stories.

May 7, 2025 / Common Man – 25 members were present. There were some updates on parking – SNHU graduation brought in over $4,000 last weekend. Some other events are coming up, and we could use some more volunteers. There was money donated to MPAL and Breakthrough. We heard from Paul, a guidance counselor at West HS,who runs the food pantry. Thank you to Corri W. for coordinating another drive to help West. Please continue to report to both Frank and Corri your monthly volunteer hours. Kiwanis Kasseroles always needs help with our monthly meal donations. Kelly Rafferty was the guest speaker from the Ellliot, who spoke to us about the Child- life team and the programs they run for children who have medical needs, losses etc. There is a continuing need to assist the child- life teams for all they do to support families in their time of need.  We had the happy jug go around, along with QOD – No winner. Next member meeting is at the Webster House on Wed. May 21st, at 5:30 

March 19, 2025 / Common Man – 16 members were present. Steve Marler, and Misty were our “Meet a Kiwanian” guest speakers. A few members are recuperating from illness and surgeries. Dave B.’s wife, Flo has passed away; Dave and Flo were longtime Kiwanians, with Dave being a Kiwanian for over 60 years and a “Lifetime Member”. There have been many sponsors for the Easter Basket Giveaway, and there will be surplus money left over to use for next year’s budget. Parking Volunteers are needed for March 28 and 30 (NCAA Div. 1 Men’s Hockey Regional playoffs). If you want to help park please call Steve 603- 818-0171. Major emphasis recipient is the YMCA STAY program. We will try for a YMCA visit to observe the program in action. The Webster House “Night of Giving” is April 2- a few people will be going to the VIP event before. The Revo Casino has given over $90,000 to Kiwanis. We are going to arrange a meeting date at the Casino, to present a check to YMCA. Nicole and Delia are compiling a helpful booklet for members that include committees, chairpersons, procedures, etc.(Stay tuned). Happy Jug and Queen of Diamonds( no winner). There was a discussion about the private memver list becoming public on google – this has been rectified.

March 5, 2025 / Common Man – 19 members were in attendance. Queen of Diamonds – no winner. Parking volunteers needed – for Sebastian Manuscalco, Rascal Flatts, Jeff Dunham. Best Buddies was our guest speaker – They have a lot of opportunities to become involved with Ambassadors, Leadership, Inclusive living, Adult Friendship program. The local office is in Bedford, NH- Bedford Executive Office Park 603- 892- 4775. May 10 there is a Friendship Walk in Concord, and June 14th in Exeter’

February 5, 2025 / Common Man – Approx. 20 members present. Parking at NBT bank was updated – stay tuned for March. Key Club updated. Scholarship committee being formed. Easter basket giveaway is April 12th at Prout Park – raindate April 19th- we will need volunteers! Our guest speaker Jodie Tsekrekas, Development Director from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and she handed out brochures with upcoming events and fundraisers. Stay tuned for more ways to become involved.

January 8, 2025 / Common Man – 23 members and 2 potential new members present. Queen of Diamonds- no one won. Frank spoke about progress with major emphasis committee. Steve spoke about parking and the need for volunteers. Monika mentioned car stickers would be a great advertising tool. There is a Signature project that we should enter to Kiwanis International. Inter- club meeting Jan. 21st – there is still room at the Pappas Rm – Puritan Backroom. Comedy night at the Backyard Brewery on Feb 21. Tom K. spoke about his love of photography, with a presentation of recent photos. Michelle L. told us about her background, professional career, and life with the prez.

December 18, 2024 / Common Man – 20 members present, many of them in festive attire. We had a traditional Yankee swap with lots of great gifts, some were exchanged, some were kept. Deb M. made some delicious cookies to share with everyone. There will be NO meeting on Jan. 1st. The first meeting of 2025 will be Wed., Jan. 8th at Common Man. There is also a Board of Director meeting that day as scheduled. On Tues., Jan. 21st, we will be having an inter-club meeting with Hooksett Kiwanis at the Oscar Barn on Route 3A in Hooksett. November 20, 2024 / Common Man – 24 members and 2 guests present. Scott welcomed our guests, who we hope will join Kiwanis.There were lots of grateful comments for the happy jug, and unfortunately no one won the Queen of Diamonds.We have 15 applicants for major emphasis, that will be reviewed and presented at the next board meeting.Updates were given for the Walk and Celebrate with a child, plus parking (still need volunteers), budget, and book nooks. Deb M. gave us a brief synopsis of Breakthrough. Scott entertained the group with his life story, which will be tough to follow such a scintillating performance.
