Kiwanis Meeting Recaps

June 18, 2025 / Common Man – 15 members were in attendance. Over $54,000 were awarded in grant money to non profit organizations; thanks to the committee headed by Paul Weathers. Rob Dionne ’s sister passed away, and several members were able to attend the wake. Pulaski Park book nook has been reinstalled after recent vandalism.  The 10K committee is meeting to get the ball rolling – contact Michelle Lambert or Nicole Wallace if you would like to help. If you haven’t voted for the slate of new officers, and directors, please do so immediately. Parking this weekend will be big, due to the popularity of PHISH. Thank you to everyone helping out with this. Breakout, at Breakthrough, will be happening at 1PM on Monday, June 23rd. If you can make it there, it would be appreciated. Laura N sent out the newsletter with Convention information. Also, August 10th the governor will be attending the Fisher Cat game. A new credit card machine has been obtained, and will help facilitate events. Nicole said she hosts a game night in August. Alysha Ashby was our “get to know a Kiwanian” and gave a very entertaining, exuberant talk about her life and Manchester roots.

May 21, 2025 / Common Man – 17 members were present. Unfortunately, many circumstances arise that prohibit attending a meeting. However, if you haven’t been to one in a while, please try to make attending a priority. There are so many positive initiatives we are working on and we would appreciate your input and participation. Memorial HS is receiving a $1000.00 check for their Spring Festival to benefit those students who would not be able to participate due to monetary circumstances. We are looking into several organizations who we may assist with student food insecurity during the summer months.The board approved to spend a significant amount of money to help with this plan – stay tuned. Key clubs have been busy with end of the year activities; some changes are in the works. Emile and Sue T. have been dealing with challenging health issues; they would appreciate cards but no gifts or flowers. Nancy H. has graciously accepted to take over hospitality/correspondence by sending greetings to our members who are celebrating milestone events, birthdays, get well wishes,etc. You can let her know by emailing [email protected] . Parking cars at NBT bank has brought in $24,000 to the club since Oct. 2024. Corri W. and Paul W. were our “Get to know your Kiwanian” speakers. Corri spoke about her life, career choices, family and how she became involved with Kiwanis and Circle K in college. Paul also spoke about his career and life choices,early years growing up in Michigan, and the several banks he worked for. Thank you both for sharing your stories.

May 7, 2025 / Common Man – 25 members were present. There were some updates on parking – SNHU graduation brought in over $4,000 last weekend. Some other events are coming up, and we could use some more volunteers. There was money donated to MPAL and Breakthrough. We heard from Paul, a guidance counselor at West HS,who runs the food pantry. Thank you to Corri W. for coordinating another drive to help West. Please continue to report to both Frank and Corri your monthly volunteer hours. Kiwanis Kasseroles always needs help with our monthly meal donations. Kelly Rafferty was the guest speaker from the Ellliot, who spoke to us about the Child- life team and the programs they run for children who have medical needs, losses etc. There is a continuing need to assist the child- life teams for all they do to support families in their time of need.  We had the happy jug go around, along with QOD – No winner. Next member meeting is at the Webster House on Wed. May 21st, at 5:30 

March 19, 2025 / Common Man – 16 members were present. Steve Marler, and Misty were our “Meet a Kiwanian” guest speakers. A few members are recuperating from illness and surgeries. Dave B.’s wife, Flo has passed away; Dave and Flo were longtime Kiwanians, with Dave being a Kiwanian for over 60 years and a “Lifetime Member”. There have been many sponsors for the Easter Basket Giveaway, and there will be surplus money left over to use for next year’s budget. Parking Volunteers are needed for March 28 and 30 (NCAA Div. 1 Men’s Hockey Regional playoffs). If you want to help park please call Steve 603- 818-0171. Major emphasis recipient is the YMCA STAY program. We will try for a YMCA visit to observe the program in action. The Webster House “Night of Giving” is April 2- a few people will be going to the VIP event before. The Revo Casino has given over $90,000 to Kiwanis. We are going to arrange a meeting date at the Casino, to present a check to YMCA. Nicole and Delia are compiling a helpful booklet for members that include committees, chairpersons, procedures, etc.(Stay tuned). Happy Jug and Queen of Diamonds( no winner). There was a discussion about the private memver list becoming public on google – this has been rectified.

March 5, 2025 / Common Man – 19 members were in attendance. Queen of Diamonds – no winner. Parking volunteers needed – for Sebastian Manuscalco, Rascal Flatts, Jeff Dunham. There will be more upcoming events – contact Steve 603-818-0171 to help. Please Volunteer for Kiwanis Kasseroles. Scholarship applications have gone out to Key club members. Amy H. handed out flyers for Safe Sports Social March 19th 5-7 pm at the Derryfield Restaurant – www.safesportsnetwork.org for more information. Best Buddies was our guest speaker – They have a lot of opportunities to become involved with Ambassadors, Leadership, Inclusive living, Adult Friendship program. The local office is in Bedford, NH- Bedford Executive Office Park 603- 892- 4775. May 10 there is a Friendship Walk in Concord, and June 14th in Exeter’

February 5, 2025 / Common Man – Approx. 20 members present. Parking at NBT bank was updated – stay tuned for March. Key Club updated. Scholarship committee being formed. Easter basket giveaway is April 12th at Prout Park – raindate April 19th- we will need volunteers! Our guest speaker Jodie Tsekrekas, Development Director from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and she handed out brochures with upcoming events and fundraisers. Stay tuned for more ways to become involved.

January 8, 2025 / Common Man – 23 members and 2 potential new members present. Queen of Diamonds- no one won. Frank spoke about progress with major emphasis committee. Steve spoke about parking and the need for volunteers. Monika mentioned car stickers would be a great advertising tool. There is a Signature project that we should enter to Kiwanis International. Inter- club meeting Jan. 21st – there is still room at the Pappas Rm – Puritan Backroom. Comedy night at the Backyard Brewery on Feb 21. Tom K. spoke about his love of photography, with a presentation of recent photos. Michelle L. told us about her background, professional career, and life with the prez.

December 18, 2024 / Common Man – 20 members present, many of them in festive attire. We had a traditional Yankee swap with lots of great gifts, some were exchanged, some were kept. Deb M. made some delicious cookies to share with everyone. There will be NO meeting on Jan. 1st. The first meeting of 2025 will be Wed., Jan. 8th at Common Man. There is also a Board of Director meeting that day as scheduled. On Tues., Jan. 21st, we will be having an inter-club meeting with Hooksett Kiwanis at the Oscar Barn on Route 3A in Hooksett. Stay tuned and Happy Holidays.

November 20, 2024 / Common Man – 24 members and 2 guests present. Scott welcomed our guests, who we hope will join Kiwanis.There were lots of grateful comments for the happy jug, and unfortunately no one won the Queen of Diamonds.We have 15 applicants for major emphasis, that will be reviewed and presented at the next board meeting.Updates were given for the Walk and Celebrate with a child, plus parking (still need volunteers), budget, and book nooks. Deb M. gave us a brief synopsis of Breakthrough. Scott entertained the group with his life story, which will be tough to follow such a scintillating performance.
